As a larger alternative to their Herald, Triumph launched their 2000 saloon in Mk1 form with Standard Vanguard twin carb 6-cylinder six of 1998cc capacity in 1963. The 6-window saloon body of unitary construction was new as were the all-sychromesh gearbox, front disc brakes and independent suspension all round. 2000s were made in saloon or estate form until 1969 when replaced by the MkII with restyled front end and larger boot.
Offered here today is a 1965-built Triumph 2000 MkI saloon, which the East Midlands vendor and second keeper tells us was one family owned before his acquisition. Indeed, the 42,604 miles displayed on the odometer when entered for this sale is believed to be the genuine total mileage for the since new. The saloon bodywork and green paintwork are claimed to be good and the light green trim also in good condition. The 1998cc 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed manual gearbox with overdrive are reportedly in good order, whilst the MOT is current until next June and it will be driven from Peterborough to the sale today.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
