The Lambretta TV175 Series 2 was launched in October 1959. It had an engine based on the Li150 Series but with an increased capacity the crankshaft, barrel, piston and gearbox ratio were changed. The front forks were fitted with external shock absorbers and the rear plate and fork links were redesigned to cope with the extra power. The TV175 models were fitted with a Veglia 120kmh speedometer face and a dual seat. The ‘Lambretta’ and ‘TV175’ side panel badges were attached to the panels with small nuts as opposed to the riveted badges on the Series 2 Li panels. Often referred to as ‘the tourer’ it had a superb performance coupled with beautiful styling and has been hugely sought after for many years by collectors.

This late example was imported into the UK in 2007, however, this is a fairly recent restoration. The striking aspect of this classic TV175 Series 2 is the sheer quality of the restoration and the fastidious attention to detail. We are informed that mainly NOS original parts or some CASA parts, in exceptional circumstances, were sought and used by Craig Robinson who is well known in British collector circles for the exceptional standard of his ‘no expense spared’ restorations and always only to standard specifications. The panels all fit and line up perfectly and the original TV175 Lechler Tyrhenian Blue 8028 paint code for the model was used. The paint presents very well indeed. Completely standard on 6v points, components were restored and reused where possible. The flywheel was re-magnetised by DJ scooters. Of note, are the the ignition, with the half-moon cap still present along with the brass steering lock with the original flap, MB23 carburettor and the soundproof rough deadening on the panels and on rear mudguard. A replacement KMH speedometer has also been fitted. With a total rebuild of the scooter to exact original specification by one of the real experts in the field, she rides, looks and feels like a new scooter as confirmed by our consultant, who was able to road test the scooter. A restoration of this standard and magnitude, completed by such an expert, would cost many thousands of pounds. In addition, the scooter is adorned with original accessories including: Vigano footboard extensions, Candy trim, Ardor spare wheel carrier, Vigano rear plate surround, Falbo ‘pig nose’ horncast, Vigano TV175 Clamshell, Super mudguard bumper, Ulma 453 fork boots, Biemme headlight peak and original period Esso key ring man. The total estimated value of these original accessories alone is over £6000 in today’s collectors market.

The TV175 Series 2 is a firm favourite with enthusiasts, with beautiful elegant lines and a smooth reliable performance, the model is the epitome of Lambretta. This is arguably one of the the best standard restorations we have seen of this model. The combination of the sought-after model, the restoration costs and the value of accessories combine to make this a superb opportunity. With a V5 registration document, it is ready to enjoy on the road.
