Lot details Registration No: OMJ 983 Chassis No: 251955 Mot Expiry: Nov 2005
This 1928-built Morris Cowley chassis was fitted in period with two-door saloon bodywork, made by Pomery and Company of New Zealand; the car being completed 1 October 1929 for delivery to the first owner, one Frank Woodcock of Tamehere in NZ, 11 October 1929. According to paperwork included with the car, the second, third and fourth owners were all Kiwis too.
The next milestone in this car's travels was 1971, when 251955 came home to the UK, where apparently it was little used, residing in a shed until 1976, when, having been given a quick repaint in blue over black, it took to the road again in the ownership of a Mr Worth of Shepshed. It then passed to a Mr G Godber Ford, who drive it to France towing a trailer, before R and D Stutchbury of Normanton-on-Trent became the keepers.
The condition of chassis, bodywork and interior (in blue Ambla) is claimed by the current owner to be good, though the 1976 paintwork could do with touching-up. Both 1548cc four-cylinder motor and three-speed manual gearbox are claimed by him to be OK, while the car has been MOT'd until November.
Please note: This car still has the magneto in evidence but there is a coil as well to help general performance.
