Scomadi Turism Leggera (Scomadi Ltd) is a British owned company formed in 2005 by the partnership of two internationally recognised pioneers of the scooter industry Frank Sanderson of Scooter innovations Ltd and Paul Melici of renowned PM Tuning. The mission was to produce a modern classic retaining retro ‘Lambretta GP’ type styling but with absolute modern performance. After years of intense research and development the first production appeared in 2009 with only 10 of the TL250 in carbon fibre with a brand new Piaggio 250 engine and all were sold prior to completion. The success of the TL250 led to the TL300 but which changed to fibre glass panels. Soon after Piaggio pulled the engine supply and future Scomadis TL/50/125/200 were manufactured in China. The result today is the mass production of Scomadis exported worldwide.
We present here therefore a very rare and historically important TL250 example. The engine is a Piaggio 4 stroke class leading Quasar 250, 4 valve and liquid cooled. It is one of the lightest and compact yet powerful 250 scooter engines on the market. Reaching 21.3bhp at 8500rpm, it has superb performance, high speed and reliability with good fuel consumption. Apart from being the only model with carbon fibre panels, there were a number of important innovations including: Front and rear hydraulic disc brakes with Bitubo double shock absorbers, the front brakes also with anti-dive assistance, electric start, digital speedometer in MPH and KMH, combined rev counter and temperature gauge, and re-designed Whelan exhaust and rear muffler.
Our vendor has owned the scooter since 2016 when the mileage was 2,890, and he has only covered approximately 100 miles in that time. It has nevertheless been treated to regular oil services, new battery and brake pads, new thermostat, CDI unit and a dyno road rolling test in 2019 amongst other fastidious attention to servicing. Vendor described as being in ‘fantastic condition’.
