Rudge consistently produced high quality products with exceptional performance employing innovative engineering and design solutions in their machines. Splines were employed in deference to woodruff keys and needle roller bearings were fitted where others would employ a plain bush. 1924 saw the introduction of the famous four valve head and in 1927 Rudge introduced the saddle tank to their range, establishing a fashion that would be emulated buy other manufacturers.
The "Special" fulfilled the role of the sports-tourer within the Rudge range, offering good performance and a refined specification.
This example is offered in a part restored state. The engine and magneto have been attended to and the gearbox shows very little wear.
