The Lambretta ‘Riviera’ LD150 was a special limited edition scooter created in only a two month period between July and August 1958. The Riviera was a kick start model and was produced alongside the ‘Mayfair’ which was an electric start version but without the box carrier. The new Innocenti Li series was now available and Lambretta Concessionaires and Innocenti made special efforts to clear the remaining stock of the existing LD models. It was only available in Great Britain and the Commonwealth and never outside of these areas. All have chassis starting 29**** and engines starting 30****. It was created by the use of the 125 electric start frame to allow the accommodation of the unique Fiamm carrier. Whether they were assembled in the UK or Italy is unknown. The Riviera was offered in two-tone Red and Grey and Blue and Grey. All new machines were offered already adorned in accessories including; chrome leg shield trim, floor extensions, and panel air scoop intakes and the famous Fiamm box carrier which for additional expense could contain a spare auxiliary fuel tank. In order to fit the box carrier the Innocenti factory had to use the rear toolbox area pressing normally reserved for the electric start model - thus how to identify a genuine ‘Riviera’ model.

LVG 438 was stood in the open for many years when discovered in 2012 and was known to have come off the road around 1965. The floor was rotten but the chassis was still sound. As was the engine, speedometer, handlebar parts, seats, box carrier and many small items. The speedometer read approximately 10,000 miles and the cable and drive box were working and untampered which indicates the original mileage. This scooter was discovered to have been registered in Norfolk and was found in the council archives as first registered on the 14th of August 1958. In total Disco Dez Scooters restored all three Riviera’s in 2017/18 to mark the 60th anniversary of the model. The original colour match for all three was taken off of this actual scooter as she had retained enough of her original paint to take a sample. Parts were painstakingly sourced from the whole of The Commonwealth with a pair of the correct leg shields with badge even being found in New Zealand. Today a full restoration of this magnitude with Disco Dez would costs way in excess of £10,000. Together with the rarity of the model and special features we expect a significant amount of interest in this scooter. A very rare opportunity for any collector of Lambrettas to purchase this model.
