The ‘150 Special’ debuted at Milan in 1963. The tuned engine and close-ratio gearbox made for a faster 95kmh machine with much-improved acceleration. The Special 150cc engine/gearing combination on these models was also particularly sought after by Lambretta racers who raided the machine engines and this has contributed to the rarity of them in original state. The last examples were assembled at the time of the early DL/GP production and unlike the Li125 Series 4 were genuine 150cc Specials but utilised a combination of Li panels and and GP/DL components. These were also produced alongside the last SX models but differ. These are very rare scooters indeed, similar to the Li Series 4 but as a 150cc Special.
Here we present a very rare original unmolested genuine factory oddity. Sold new by Revetts of Stowmarket on the 2nd May 1969, and found by a house clearance company recently. We are told that the scooter was owned by a lady in her 90’s who had owned it from new. It had only covered 1,402 miles when she stopped using it. The service book found in the tool box, along with the original tools, collaborates this. Avid collectors will note that it has some very unusual features indeed, the obvious being the Li type thin horncast, clip on Li side panels and Li front mudguard. Of note are the GP style silver hubs and wheels, push-in fork buffers and Grey plastic tool box. She also has the Black GP style switch. The scooter appears to have never been dismantled, with the cables, fixings and fastenings, all over the machine, appearing to be in the exact factory position. For anyone wishing to collect the rarest of the rare, this represents a great opportunity.
