The success of the Honda RS125 prompted Yamaha to produce a single cylinder 125cc racer, the result being the TZ125 introduced at the start of the eighties. The new machine employed a liquid cooled single with drive via a six speed gearbox housed in a steel frame equipped with monoshock suspension. Despite Yamaha's success in the larger capacities the new machine struggled to capture a significant share of the market with riders more often than not choosing the known qualities of the Honda at the expense of the Yamaha, consequently early TZ125's are comparatively rare.
This example dating from the models first year was restored by Weeden Classic Restorations during 1990 to original specification for show use. Presented to a high standard cosmetically it has not been run by the vendor who reports that the engine turns over and all gears can be selected.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
