Lot 89 - 1964 Porsche 911 Competition Race Car

1964 Porsche 911 Competition Race Car

Lot details
Registration No: EGF472B
Chassis No: 911-300241
Mot Expiry: Dec 2005

This late-entered and similarly early 911 replaces the similar Porsche, which was catalogued as Lot 29. Indeed, much of the information, especially in regard to the type of events that may be entered, also apply to this replacement lot.
For being offered here instead is a 1964-dated, and therefore extremely rare left-hand drive coupe, which we understand has been in receipt of a total and down to bare metal restoration in 1995. It is currently presented in the full FIA regs compliant specification of a pre-1965 2-litre 911 with all the necessary contemporary safety equipment including roll cage, full harnesses, fuel tank and fire extinguisher. We gather that, post-build, EGF 472B was then set up by the legendary Porsche Meister himself, Walter Rohrl, and went on to successfully run in the famous Tour Auto in 1997, 2000 and 2001. Recent preparation has been in the very capable hands of leading marque specialist Andy Prill.
Current condition of two-door fixed head body shell is described as excellent with panels and silver paintwork in good shape. The race-spec interior is finished in silver and black and is also described as good. Whilst the 1991cc six-cylinder engine is said to be in excellent order as is the five-speed manual transmission. A full set of the necessary FIA papers come with the car, which is not only street legal, but is both MOT tested and taxed for virtually all of 2005. On recent and current form, a 911 of this vintage and to this spec is THE car to have for both Historic Racing or Rallying.

Please note: We have discussed this exceptionally rare and desirable pre 1965 car with the acknowledged expert Andy Prill. His comments on the car are entirly positive and he confirms it to be a very quick entrant into all the right races.
