Lot details Registration No: 313 UXA Chassis No: 105598/DN Mot Expiry: Feb 2005
A new generation of more compact Jaguar saloons came to market from 1956, employing unitary construction for their bodyshells rather than separate chassis and bodies of previous Jaguars. The Mk1 2.4 had a 2483cc 6-cylinder engine which was a short-stroke version of the Coventry firm's already world famous XK power unit.
The 1961-made 2.4 Mk2 in the sale today was in last ownership for eight years and has had been in receipt of much expenditure during the last 5000 miles. In the vendor's opinion, the around 80,000 miles displayed when entered for the auction is likely to be the genuine total mileage for the car from new.
The current condition of both body panels and blue and grey paintwork are reportedly good, though the red interior is rated as being only fair. Both 2.4-litre six and 4-speed manual gearbox are said to be in good order. Whilst the history file contains the original handbook and the latest MOT, the test being very freshly passed and the certificate therefore current until next February.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
