Lot details Registration No: 727 EOJ Chassis No: TS 81767 Mot Expiry: May 2006
Final evolution of the TR2/TR3 line (save for the American market TR3B), the TR3A was introduced in September 1957. Great fun to drive, its tough boxed section chassis featured independent coil and wishbone front suspension, a leaf sprung 'live' rear axle and disc / drum brakes. Fitted with a 1991cc four-cylinder ohv unit developing some 104bhp and 117lbft of torque, it was reputedly capable of 104mph.
Finished in pale blue with blue leather upholstery, this particular example is variously described by the vendor as being in good (engine, four-speed manual gearbox, electrical equipment) or very good (chassis, bodywork, paintwork) condition. Reportedly registered to just two families for the first thirty-one years of its life (1961-1981 / 1981-1992) and a subsequent custodian from 1992-2003, 727 EOJ entered the present ownership that same year. Apparently treated to some bodywork refurbishment by the Northern TR Centre in 1992 and an engine / gearbox overhaul the following year, more recent work in 2002 saw it benefit from a brake system refurbishment and replacement rear hubs. Believed to have covered just 20,000 miles since 1982 (or so an accompanying run of MOT certificates would suggest), it is also offered for sale with buff logbook, invoices for circa £5,865 and MOT certificate valid until 26th May 2006.
