Lot details Registration No: 7 CGT Chassis No: B255V Mot Expiry: June 2006
Finished in silver over blue with red leather upholstery, this particular Bentley S2 was apparently "originally owned by the Marquis of Duoro" who had it "sent new by Silver City Airways from Lydd to Ostend to do The European Tour". Reputedly "sold to Oregon in the late 1960s", it is thought to have remained there until January 2005 when it was re-imported to the UK. Said to possess a "lovely, original interior" that has never been "connollised or dyed" nor afflicted by "splits or tears", its woodwork is stated as being good "apart from some heat flaking on dashboard capping rail". While, the Oregon heat is credited with helping to preserve the Bentley's "straight body lines and perfect front wings", it is also considered to have been responsible for crazing the paintwork. Reportedly a "first time starter" with "no tappet rattle" that "burns no oil", its four-speed automatic gearbox is rated as being "good" and its 6,230cc V8 engine as "good". A potentially rewarding project with an interesting history, it is offered for sale with MOT valid until June 6th 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
