Lot details Registration No: P91 EJO Chassis No: VMKAFOH0515839008 Mot Expiry: June 2008
Unveiled in prototype guise at the 1995 Geneva Motor Show before entering production later that same year, the Renault Sport Spider was something of a halo model for the Gallic manufacturer. Notably aerodynamic and lightweight, the newcomer made extensive use of aluminium and was powered by a transversely mid-mounted 2.0 litre four-cylinder 16-valve engine allied to five-speed manual transmission. Reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds and 134mph, its pared back nature meant that even a windscreen was classified as optional equipment. A fantastic driver's car, the Sport Spider also spawned a race series which brought both Jason Plato and Andy Priaulx to prominence. Manufactured at the Alpine factory in Dieppe under the aegis of Renault Sport, the two-seater lasted in production for less than two years. Something of a cult classic, only 200 UK-specification right-hand drive cars are thought to have been made.
Finished in blue with black / grey upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in "excellent" condition with regard to its engine, gearbox, electrical equipment, interior trim, chassis and bodywork (while, he rates the paintwork and wheels / tyres as "good"). Said to have had "just three owners" and to benefit from "FSH", 'P91 EJO' is apparently accompanied by "all weather equipment" and "a toolkit". Riding on alloy wheels, this desirable Renault is offered for sale with "original sales literature / brochures etc, aluminium presentation box" and MOT certificate valid until June 2008.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
