Introduced during 1948 the D1 Bantam would remain in production until 1963 providing straightforward transport for thousands and delivering countless telegrams.
This example, although finished in the "civilian" green and white livery was first registered to the Postmaster General, Motor Transport Department, GPO, London EC2 before passing to the Reading Postmaster office in 1969 remaining in service until 1973. It was repainted in the livery that it now wears following its disposal from the GPO and fitted with a dualseat. A period of inactivity followed, lasting approximately thirty years from which the machine emerged in fair, unmolested condition. The vendor informs us that the engine turns over and that a buff log book is supplied with the machine.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
