Lot details Registration No: PFF 745 Chassis No: BN4L-O/745082 Mot Expiry: June 2009
Introduced in 1956, the 100/6 was intended to broaden the Big Healey's sales appeal. Thus, the newcomer boasted a more spacious 2+2 seater cabin and improved refinement courtesy of BMC's 2.6litre C-series six-cylinder unit. Distinctive 'crinkle' grille and bonnet scoop aside, the low-slung sportscar shared the same wonderful Gerry Coker penned styling as its four-cylinder predecessor. Though, an increase in wheelbase from 7ft 6in to 7ft 8in meant that the 100/6 was a fraction longer. Equipped with independent coil-and-wishbone front suspension, a 'live' rear axle and hydraulic four-wheel drum brakes, the model could be had in first BN4 (2+2) and later BN6 (2-seater) guises - the arrival of the second variant ushering in a new 'straight-port' cylinder head which brought welcome extra performance. Superseded by the 3000 in 1959, the 100/6 nevertheless set the template for all future Big Healeys.
H&H are indebted to the vendor for the following description:
Originally exported to Germany in left-hand drive format, `PFF 745' was repatriated during the early 1990's and subjected to an extensive restoration by a local company in Derbyshire. Benefiting from a centre-change gearbox, overhauled engine (including ported head), overdrive and wire wheels, this attractively priced Big Healey presents well with leather faced seats and full weather equipment (hood / hood frame, side screens and tonneau cover). A Heritage Certificate, Original Warranty Document and current MOT certificate valid until June 2009 accompany the car.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
