The fastest factory-produced version of the MGB was the Rover V8 powered model, which was produced between 1973 and 1976 and would propel customers to 125mph. This example GT V8 was made at Abingdon in 1974, has been in current lady ownership since 1994, since when it is claimed to have been only lightly used.
The 3.5-litre coupe has also been known to Blackpool specialists MG House since 1985. We understand from the vendor that the four-speed manual gearbox, which has the benefit of an overdrive, has been renewed and the sills have been replaced.
The current condition of the fixed head bodyshell is described by the entrant as being good with body panels and red paintwork also good. The car is on alloy wheels and has black leather interior, also rated as good, whilst the 3528cc capacity eight-cylinder motor, super-smooth and torquey, the transmission and the electrics are all reportedly in good order.
When entered for the sale, some 69,000 miles were displayed and this is believed by the owner to be the genuine total mileage for the car from new. The latest MOT certificate will be valid until the middle of September.
