Lot details Registration No: 417 DTD Chassis No: BN45/45240 Mot Expiry: Aug 2005
To create the Austin-Healey 100/6 in 1956, BMC uprated the 4-cylinder 100 with the 2.6-litre BMC C Series engine and the wheelbase was lengthened by 2ins to provide 2+2 accommodation, though a strictly two-seater version was also available.
Offered here is a 1957 Austin-Healey 100/6 open sports in blue. Included today are hardtop, Heritage certificate confirming its UK home market status, original brown logbook as well current V5, tax disc valid until next 30 June and MOT which will not require renewal until 27 August 2005.
Finished in ice blue with matching blue trimmed 2+2 interior, sidescreens, tonneau cover, original steering wheel and sitting on steel road wheels, this 16 July 1957-built, righthand drive 100/6 was originally supplied to dealers Georges Garages Limited of Warton near Preston for the first Lancastrian owner - a test pilot, one Desmond de Villiers - with the 417 DTD registration it carries to this day.
On file is a copy of an article from the A-H Club magazine charting the car's history in some detail, which confirms that it successfully completed a major Continental tour in 1963. According to the feature, it was taken off the road in 1974 and stored until 1994, the previous owner acquiring it in January 1995. At some time it has been repainted. When entered, 80,917 miles were displayed on the odometer and this mileage is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total for this sportscar from new.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
