Lot details Registration No: RCT809R Chassis No: XKU1-422961A Mot Expiry: Aug 2006
Introduced in 1961, the Mini Pick-Up shared the same stretched wheelbase, basic pressed grille and 5cwt payload as its Minivan sibling. Powered by an 848cc A-series four-cylinder engine mated to a four-speed manual gearbox, it soon became a familiar sight on UK roads often bedecked in the livery of a utility company or small business. Equipped with all-round independent suspension and rack and pinion steering, it proved great fun to drive on- or off-duty. Quietly dropped from the range in 1982, it retained the first generation Mini's characteristic external door hinges and sliding windows throughout its production life.
Finished in blue with blue / black upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor's agent as being in good overall condition. Purchased by the current owner's late husband from vintage tractor restorers' Popplewells during the 2000 Lincolnshire Agricultural Show, it has spent much of the intervening time in storage. Believed but not warranted to have covered 43,500 miles from new, it is hoped that a faulty fuel gauge sender unit and somewhat scruffy driver's seat will have been attended to by the time of sale. Benefiting from a cover, it is offered with MOT certificate valid until 17th August 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
