Lot details Registration No: YYR776T Chassis No: 355211T1F Mot Expiry: July 2005
As confirmed by a Local Vehicle Licencing Office form, when this Range Rover left the Solihull factory in 1978, it was supplied to `The Chief Clerk' at the Royal Mews of Buckingham Palace. The estate, finished in Lincoln Green, carried the YYR 776T registration it bears to this day and, displaying this plate, appears in a period photo taken at Lambourn alongside VIP driver at the time Lady Diana, a copy of this image appearing among the vehicle's documents. Electrically-operated windows and rear seat belts were factory-supplied extras at the time, while the full-length Tudor Webasto sunroof also dates from its Royal ownership, again as confirmed by the photo.
Although, cosmetically, the ex-Royal 4x4 is showing its age, with body panels only fair, green paintwork dull and beige interior also fair, the 3.5-litre V8 is claimed to be in good order following a recent rebuild - a 29 March invoice detailing work carried out, which included wiper assembly renewal, is included - and the 4-speed manual gearbox is reportedly also good. The MOT is current until next July.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
