Lot details Registration No: ELN128Y Chassis No: AR2465833 Mot Expiry: Nov 2013
Finished in Dark Blue with Red upholstery and a Black hood, this particular left-hand drive example was first registered in Germany on 8th July 1976. Migrating to Greece some four-years later, the Spider has been a UK resident since 1983. Reportedly treated to a substantial renovation of its bodywork, engine, gearbox, brake system and steering during the mid 1990s (circa 15,000kms ago) by the likes of Alfaman and others, the 2+2-seater is said to possess "good mechanics" and "a crisp five-speed gearbox that stays in reverse gear".
Acquired by the vendor in February 2012 (for use whilst his Lancia Flaminia was off the road), the Alfa Romeo was driven all the way to the South of France some three months later. Having spent the summer there, it motored back in two long days at the end of October. Covering over 6,000 trouble-free kms this year, 'ELN 128Y' is described by the seller as "a very practical, useable and well sorted example of the favoured S2 version of the Kamm tail Spider with two litre engine and five-speed gearbox. Sailing through its MOT and demonstrating absolute reliability during its recent European outing this car represents a lovely example which will benefit from some straightforward cosmetic attention". Riding on "a good set of wheels and tyres" and sporting "an alarm/immobiliser, radio/cassette and front/rear seatbelts", it is offered for sale with handbook, original stamped service book, 17 old MOT certificates, numerous garage receipts, MOT certificate valid until mid November 2013 and road fund licence valid until July 2013.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
