Lot details Registration No: ACK488A Chassis No: Z006461 Mot Expiry: Jan 2005
The distinctive shape of the Jaguar MkX first started turning heads in 1961. Apart from being completely restyled, and yet retaining the family likeness, the body was of unitary-construction, the front suspension by coils, the rear borrowed from the E Type and the steering was power-assisted as standard.
This MkX, which first let the Browns Lane works in 1963, was in first Lancastrian ownership until only last year. Apart from various former MOTs as well as the current certificate, it comes with factory-supplied service booklet and handbook and many of the tools in the original kit still present.
Apart from the nearside sill, which has been replaced, the luxurious bodyshell is claimed still to be original as is the metallic grey paintwork. Apart from the driver's seat, the red leather is said to be free of wear, though some of the wood veneer has been slightly sun-bleached. The 3.8-litre six is reportedly fault free and the same goes for the electrics as well as the 3-speed automatic transmission.
We understand from the current owner that a full exhaust in stainless steel has been fitted and that all four tyres have been renewed, while a major service was carried out only 100 miles ago. The vendor believes that the 44,700 miles displayed when entered to be the genuine total. The MOT will not need renewing until next January and, because of its age, this classic Jag qualifies for a tax-exempt disc.
PLEASE NOTE: The steering column needs tightening on this vehicle.
