Lot details Registration No: MLE307D Chassis No: MB48081DLBW Mot Expiry: Feb 2005
Launched by Triumph in 1963 as a larger alternative to their Herald, the 2000 saloon in MkI form had the Standard Vanguard twin carb 6-cylinder engine of 1998cc capacity. The 6-window saloon body of unitary-construction was new as were the front disc brakes and independent suspension all round.
The current owner acquired his 1966 Canley factory built 2000 model from one of our auctions in 2001, since when he tells us that the right-hand drive has always been well kept in a heated garage, being absolutely fabulous to drive. Indeed, the vendor is only parting with it today, he says, as he is shortly moving overseas.
The MkI 4-door bodyshell is described as being in A1 condition and the same goes for the blue paintwork with the blue leather interior reportedly perfect. Both 2-litre six and 3-speed automatic transmission are reportedly in perfect working order. Electrical equipment as well as wheels and tyres are also said to be A1. The 9756 miles displayed when entered is believed by the entrant to be the genuine total mileage from new.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
