New Imperial, or as they were then known, Imperial claimed the distinction of producing the first all British motorcycle when they exhibited their Werner type machine, powered by a 500cc single of their own manufacture, at the Stanley Show. By the 1920's the firm was well established offering a range of machines from singles through to large capacity vee twins. In the middle of the range were four 680cc vee twins.
This example is described by the vendor, who has owned the bike for the last 36 years having acquired it when he was 13, as running but being in need of restoration. Last used in 1974, it is one of only eight known examples and is he only one to feature the combined petrol and oil tank. It is offered with a buff logbook with entries dating back to July 1949.
