Developed under the watchful eye of Porsche Chief Executive Peter Schutz, the 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the September 1983 Frankfurt Motor Show. Visually indebted to the outgoing 911 SC, the newcomer wore a revised front valance complete with auxiliary driving lamps and a subtle 'Carrera' script on its engine lid. Available in coupe, targa and cabriolet guises, it remained faithful to established 911 practice by employing all-round independent torsion-bar suspension, four-wheel disc brakes and rack and pinion steering. Estimated to be 80% new, the model's 3164cc (hence '3.2') flat-six engine was credited with developing 231bhp and 209lbft of torque. Allied to five-speed transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible. Reputedly capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and 153mph, the Carrera 3.2 was progressively developed over the course of its six-year production run. Amid the various interior changes and suspension tweaks, the arrival of the new Getrag G50 gearbox for the 1987 model year was welcomed by many. Lighter and more positive than its 915 predecessor, it made an already great driving experience even better. Last of the Carrera 3.2 line, the so-called 'K-series' cars were introduced in August 1988 and came with 16-inch wheels as standard.
Finished in white with black leather upholstery, this particular example is a UK supplied car with the standard sunroof. It is described by the vendor as being in "very good" condition with regard to its engine, five-speed manual gearbox, interior trim, chassis, bodywork and paintwork (while, he rates the electrical equipment as "good"). Riding on Fuchs alloys shod with "as new" tyres, 'F559 JBA' is said to have covered some 92,800 miles from new (a figure apparently substantiated by "full history"). Reportedly "owned and shown by a Porsche Club of Great Britain member", this desirable 'K-series' Carrera 3.2 is offered for sale with "original service book" and MOT certificate valid until December 2007.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
