Along with Cagiva funding, it was the technically sophisticated eight-valve 851 that brought Ducati - the Ferrari of the motorcycle world - roaring into the 1990s.
Since acquired by the vendor, this 1990 Bologna-built 851 Superbike has only been ridden 150 miles. During his ownership, the only change to the standard ex-factory specification has been the fitting of Arrow carbon exhausts, although the original items are also supplied with the bike.
Current condition of frame and suspension components is claimed to be excellent with original Ducati bright red paint and brightwork good. Both 851cc capacity twin with the marque's trademark desmodromic system of valve operation (that is with valves closed by cam, rather than springs) as well as transmission are reportedly in excellent order.
The last service, for which a receipt has been included among the paperwork, was carried out at 3331 miles, whilst the 3622 mileage displayed when entered for the sale is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total for the Duke from new. The latest MOT test was passed near the end of January, so the current certificate has the rest of the year to run.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
