Lot details Registration No: PNP 10L Chassis No: 1284864 Mot Expiry: May 2005
The Interceptor's creation was born out of the demise of the Austin-Healey, which had been a long-running export success for BMC, for whom Jensen had done sub-contract work. The West Midlands firm had already employed a 6.2-litre Chrysler motor to power its GRP-bodied CV8 and, in 1966, came up with their new model based on the CV8 chassis with Italian-styled bodywork made from steel, an FF 4WD version coming out at the same time.
We understand that this 1972-West Bromwich built Interceptor III, a righthand drive fixed head coupe in red with beige leather interior, was in receipt of a £14,000 rebuild carried out ten years ago. Also on file are numerous other bills detailing work done, including renewal of the electric window motors, as well as several former MOT certificates, the present MOT current until next May.
The 74,980 miles displayed when entered is believed by the vendor to be the genuine total. The chassis is described as being in good condition with 7.2-litre V8 and 3-speed auto-shift transmission reportedly in good order.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
