MG's new TC model was announced within five weeks of peace in Europe. Power came from the company's proven 1250cc OHV XPAG unit mated to a four-speed manual gearbox. With an output of 54.4bhp, the lightweight newcomer was capable of an impressive top speed approaching 80mph.
This right-hand drive example vacated the production line in 1946 bound for the USA. It was repatriated by a classic car dealer in November 1990 from whom it was purchased by the vendor's late husband. The following March, when the odometer apparently read 18,564 miles, he fitted a new stainless steel exhaust, hood and side screens, brake linings, dynamo, steering box, clock and speedometer, and had the wheels freshly powder coated. The vehicle's first MOT was carried out in July 1992, following which it covered just 40 miles before entering storage within a heated garage the following year. Now awakened from its slumbers, it is considered by the vendor to have bodywork that's "generally good and solid underneath", paintwork that's "good with some slight chips", and interior trim that's "fair with no damage". Apparently the engine "runs well on clean fuel" but the fuel tank understandably needs flushing, while the clutch is thought to be "stuck". A delightful MG now awaiting some recommissioning.
