The upgrades that distinguished Rolls-Royce's Shadow II from the first model included: rack-and-pinion steering; revised front suspension geometry; and a change of carburettors, exhaust and cooling fans aimed at improving fuel consumption. More visible were the rubber-tipped bumpers, deeper radiator shell, different door handles, bib spoiler below the front bumper and new style (spring-back) door mirror that was adjustable from inside the car. The Long wheelbase versions of the Shadow II were endowed with the Silver Wraith name and most had the additional distinguishing features of Everflex roof, opera-style rear window and different wheel covers.
