Lot details Registration No: BMK 757 Chassis No: 36746 Mot Expiry: Aug 2013
Nicknamed `Josephine' following its purchase from HWM Robinson Automobiles on 13th June 1938, `BMK 757' remained part of the Allen family until 2005. Dry stored between December 1939 and May 1954, the Talbot was maintained by marque specialist John Bland during the 1950s/1960s. Used for touring holidays to Lands End and John O'Groats etc, `Josephine' had covered an indicated 82,658 miles by October 1972. Entrusted to A. Archer for a front axle overhaul two years later, the 65 spent the next three decades or so in dry storage. Bought from the Allen family by Trevor Chaytor-Norris, Josephine was subsequently treated to a pre-selector transmission overhaul (£2,512.15 Schumacher), new headliner/roof covering, full-flow oil filter conversion and rejuvenated wire wheels/fresh tyres. Further benefiting from a top-end engine overhaul and some cosmetic fettling since entering the current ownership in 2007, this `timewarp' Talbot boasts an extensive history file (1938 bill of sale, buff logbook, Allen family correspondence, b&w photographs, instruction book etc)
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
