Roughly translated, Ur means `first of its kind', and there is no question that the original Audi Quattro re-wrote the book of roadholding for road and rally stage alike. Unveiled at the 1980 Geneva Salon, it was the first model to feature Audi's now legendary permanent four-wheel drive system, the first car to combine four-wheel drive with a turbocharged engine, and the first in rally form to take advantage of new regulations that allowed all-wheel drive - the phenomenal results speak for themselves. The street version shared many parts with the (B2) Audi Coupe, and was powered by a turbocharged 2144cc five cylinder SOHC engine that produced 197bhp - sufficient to propel the newcomer to 60mph in under seven seconds and on to an impressive top speed of some 140mph.
The tidy-looking right-hand drive Quattro on offer is a 1984 example finished in Red complemented by a Brown and Green cloth interior and white alloy wheels. Its odometer currently registers an unwarranted 150,050 miles and the vendor views the bodywork, paintwork, interior trim, turbo five-cylinder engine and five-speed manual gearbox as all being in "good" order. The Audi's current MOT is valid until June 2013. So, place the winning bid and be the one to `Fire up the Quattro'. Vorsprung durch Technik etc......
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
