The success of the overhead cam Gran Sport in the Italian long distance classics of 1955 and 1956 led to the development and release of two road going machines that became the progenitors of a range of singles for Ducati. The 175cc Sport was displayed for the first time at the 1956 Milan Show and was quickly joined by the touring 175T. The two 175cc machines were joined for 1958 by a pair of smaller siblings displacing 100 and 125cc, with both being offered in touring and sports trim. The 125cc Sport developed 10bhp at 8,500 rpm, sufficient to propel it to a top speed of 69 mph and was presented in much the same style as the F3 model, with a jelly mould fuel tank, dropped bars and full width hubs. Unsurprisingly it was to prove popular in both its home country and Spain where it was built under licence by Mototrans.
This example of a Mototrans licence built 125 Sport has been restored to a high standard throughout and is nicely presented in blue and silver. It is offered with Spanish papers.
