  • Original Italian Ministry registration book
  • Rare Electronic version of the design icon by Nuccio Bertone acclaimed for his designs for Ferrari and Lamborghini
  • Excellent standard of restoration
  • V5C for immediate use on the road

The DL200 was the last of the great Lambretta scooters that rolled off Innocenti’s production line in Milan. Produced from January 1969 until April 1971 it is believed a total of only 9,350 DL/GP200s were made, and fewer than 1000 were the ‘Electronic’ version. The DL200 followed the SX200 and retained the engine prefix of SX200 before the serial number. The iconic bodywork followed the trends of the early 1970s. The Bertone design was more streamlined than its predecessors with a new 22/2 frame and rectangular headlight. There were, however, significant improvements to the engine over the SX including: improved crankshaft, a complete overhaul of the gearbox ratios and improved Ducati ignition. The Electronic version went even further, with a 6v electronic ignition and CDI unit, making them very collectible indeed. The only immediate noticeable difference between the DL and GP Electronics was that the DL did not have a battery tray and the leg shield badge differs.

This 1970 manufactured DL200 Electronic was declared manufactured on June 4th 1970 and first registered on the 15th of July 1970 in Florence (Firenze) Italy. The scooter was restored in Italy prior to its export to the UK and appears to have been completed to a very high standard. This a very early ‘Electronic’ and as such has the Grey plastic toolbox (not Black as in later versions), metal fuel flap and Ochre-coloured rear frame grille and horn grille. Previously re-painted in the correct Ochre colour and with an excellent level of detail. There are, however, 2 small scratches on the paint on left side panel. Starting with the electrics it has 6v Red CDI 323901 with Black wire and what appears to be the original electronic stator plate, with correct fixings and using the correct Red HT lead to the CDI. We can also see the original correct spot-welds behind the welded CDI bracket.

The panels are an excellent fit and the seat is the original Guiliari type with a quality replacement cover. Cabling is fastened with the correct type of straps and the ends have been finished off neatly. Believed original, the original speedometer displays an impressive c.4,2474km at the time of consignment. Brake adjusters are the late versions found on late GPs. Hand levers are the correct earlier type with no ball end, and keys are all present for ignition, toolbox and steering lock. The engine runs extremely well, with bright headlights and the DL200 started easily on our visit. She has the Ministry of Transport original registration book, the original Targa Italian Firenze number plate, dating certificate from the Lambretta Club of Great Britain and some MOTs since being imported in 2014.

This is a very rare opportunity for the most serious collector of Lambrettas. With documentation suggesting that this is likely to be one of the earliest known DL200 Electronics in a high-quality restored condition and original specification.
