Lot details Registration No: 907 XUM Chassis No: MA25431300

- Built to FIA Appendix K regulations, 1293cc engine and only 607 kg
Launched in 1961, the Mini Cooper was renowned for its roadholding and excellent power-to-weight ratio which enabled it to compete with, and often beat, larger-capacity rivals especially on tight, twisting circuits. Indeed, Warwick Banks won the European Saloon Car Championship outright in 1964 driving Ken Tyrell's Mini Cooper.
Finished in Red with a Black roof, this competition Mini was reportedly built-up using an 11,000 mile from new, unwelded donor in 2010. Previously powered by a 1071cc Cooper S engine with a view to historic saloon racing, it now runs a 1293cc engine to FIA Appendix K specification and is thus potentially eligible for the St Mary's Trophy Race at the enormously prestigious Goodwood Revival meeting. Weighing just 607kg which must make it one of the lightest on the grid, the Mini has only been tested once at Silverstone in its current guise. Fitted with an aluminium fuel tank, facet fuel pump and lightweight race battery located in the boot, safety equipment comprises a FIA-spec roll cage with side bars, Sabelt four point harness, Cobra race seat and plumbed-in fire extinguisher system. Reputedly 'on the button', '907 XUM' is offered for sale with V5C registration document.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
