John MarkeyPrivate Sales
After an early spell as a Metallurgist at the Fairey Aviation Company, John fulfilled his true desire to get into the automobile industry by joining a London and South East distributor handling Morris, Wolsey, Riley and MG cars. John started racing with a Lotus VI and a Mini 850 before getting his hands on the Emery GT equipped with a Mk XI Ford Cosworth in 1966. He then decided to try racing full time and competed in the World Sports Car Championship, with drives at Monza, Spa, Nurburgring, the Targa Florio and the 12 hours at Montjuich plus drives in a Formula One ex-Rodriguez Cooper-Maserati.
John set up the classic car business Beacon Hill Garage in 2000 and built an enviable reputation for high levels of customer service and the depth of knowledge they were able to impart. He is able to offer clients not just a rich racing pedigree (as a member of the BRDC), but a lifetime of experience in restoring classic cars and buying and selling cars on behalf of a number of significant collectors.
