The Montjuic was UK only high performance model created initially by the UK importers Slater Brothers. Introduced in 1979, the engine was tuned with S1 cams, high compression pistons and a Sito exhaust and produced around 50bhp. The bikes were shipped to the UK as a very much stripped and bare machine. Once in the UK, the bodywork and fairing, made by Screen and Plastics, were fitted. The bike was named after the Spanish circuit following the Laverda successes there.

Purchased by the late owner in 2011, a restoration was completed in 2015. The late owner partially restored the Laverda over a couple of years, being completed to a very good standard with many new parts being used and new paintwork.

The restoration included; the polishing of the engine covers and carburettors, with the carbs also rebuilt. The frame was stripped to bare metal and painted, along with the tank and the panels. All the bright work rechromed. The following were also overhauled; the brakes and master cylinder and the forks. A set of used clocks was purchased from Motalia Ltd. In addition, the following new components were fitted; Venhill throttle and clutch cables, brake hoses, chain, Hagon rear suspension (original units supplied with the machine). Stickers and graphics have been copied from originals. Tank stickers are new but aged for authenticity. We understand previous owner had engine overhauled, but we cannot verify. An invoice shows extensive range of carburettor parts purchased by this owner who also fitted new tyres.

Ridden just once since rebuild, to and from the Kimbolton Country Fayre, where it was displayed in 2015. Since completion, this correct numbers machine has been used sparingly. Accompanying the machine are a workshop and parts manual, some receipts and, importantly, a Slater Brothers certificate is on file. We are told the Montjuic was ‘running’ earlier this year and everything is believed to be working as it should.
