The so-called T was the final iteration of Ferrari's mid-engined Mondial model range produced from 1980 to 1993. The T referred to the re-positioned drivetrain that, as per Ferrari F1 cars of the period, featured the engine mounted longitudinally driving through a transversely positioned transmission. This set the pattern for the marque's mid-engine V8 cars for years to come and endowed the T with far superior handling to previous Mondials, whose engines were mounted higher up and across the frame. It could cover the 0-60mph sprint in 5.6 seconds with wind in your hair. It is believed just 53 of which were right-hand drive.
We are delighted to offer this Classiche Certified and former Concours contending Mondial. The most sought-after variant with 3.4-litre V8 and transverse gearbox, registering c.57,800 warranted miles, it is 1 of just 71 UK RHD examples produced. With a detailed history, it benefits from a major engine out service by Italia AutoSport (including belt change) completed in October 2021. Rare in RHD, it is even more unusual and desirable with Ferrari Classiche status. Ordered new in 1989 by Evans Halshaw for Peter Inston of Worcestershire, in addition to a list price of £62,702.80 the optional leather dashboard was specified at £890.77. Registered ‘G713 NOW’ in May 1990, in June 1991 at 8,100 miles, it was sold by Strattons (Wilmslow) to Christopher Dunn of Middlesex for £57,500. Sold to a Swiss Cottage dealer in 1993, the car passed via Anthony Payne of London (34,526 miles) to Roy Clouse of Surrey in May 1996. Maintained by marque specialist Neal Lucas of Surrey it was treated to an upgraded oil pump chain. Next acquired by Edward Bradshaw of Kent (at 43,149 miles), maintenance passed to marque specialists, Foskers. In April 2003 it was sold (c.50,000 miles) to Jonathan Rose, then Nicholas Baker in June 2004 (50,600 miles) and then to Angelo Dama in June 2006. John Markey of Surrey acquired the car in March 2015 (51,900 miles), treating it to an engine out belt service, water pump, tensioner bearings and clutch. Purchased by the vendor that year (53,408 miles), works included attention to a rear window motor, passenger wing mirror motor, aircon, petrol sensor and hood fitment. In 2016 the starter motor and gear linkage were refurbished followed by the interior in 2017. The belts were last changed in 2021. Classiche Certified by Stratstone in 2018, it is described as being correct and complete with original handbooks, service book, wallet and tools. Rarely do righthand drive Mondials come to market, never mind examples that have Classiche certification, making this is an attractive opportunity for the discerning collector.
