H&H Classics to host the first ever Live Auction Online by a Specialist Classic Car Auctioneer
In February 2019, H&H Classics launch the next phase of their move to offer completely new online bidding facilities, with the first purely online live auction of classic cars.
The H&H Online Bidding platform was launched in July 2017, which brought Online Bidding and Buying all under the H&H roof. It met with immediate success, contributing 17.8% of overall sale revenue first time out, at the IWM Duxford sale that November (2017).
The company introduced 0% Internet Surcharge on all transactions through the portal which significantly benefitted both sellers and buyers – for the first time making items/vehicles the same price to those bidding in the room as those bidding from abroad, opening their buying and selling potential up to a global capacity.
H&H immediately launched Online-Only Automobilia Auctions in November 2017, which have consistently achieved between 80%-95% sold to online bidders over the four sales hosted in 2018 each having between approx. 350-600 items up for online-only auction.
Throughout the company history, H&H have achieved some incredible sales to online bidders who’ve chosen to buy vehicles online through their system rather than attend the physical sale (even though it was available), including the winning bid for the ex-Prince Philip Lagonda 3 Litre DHC and a Vincent Black Shadow motorcycle.
Iain Burt, of H&H Classics Management team, says: “H&H Classics have always been the market leaders when it comes to introducing new technologies, whilst embracing the tradition of our industry. At present approximately 30% of all sales take place online – which provides us with a strong foundation to introduce this exciting ‘live’ auction online format.”
