'BRAND NEW' 48-YEAR-OLD E-TYPE JAGUAR WITH 1,700 MILES ON THE CLOCK

1969 E-Type Jaguar 4.2 2+2 in red with beige trim is estimated to sell for  £100,000 to £150,000 at the H&H Classics sale at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford on July 26th

A 1969 E-Type Jaguar 4.2 2+2 in red with beige trim is estimated to sell for  £100,000 to £150,000 at the H&H Classics sale at the Imperial War Museum in Duxford on July 26th

The car has had just one registered keeper and has only run up 1,733 miles from new! It was last taxed for road use forty years ago.

It has been treated to much recommissioning and restoration work by marque specialist Alan Collins of Maldon (2000-2009). It was never fitted with a stereo and the blanking plate, speaker grilles and aerial bung remain in place. The car retains its original 'matching numbers' engine and manual gearbox.

“Is this the lowest mileage E-Type in the world?”

Damian Jones | H&H Classics

The E-Type was supplied new by G. Blizzard Motors of Chorley Wood to Welfare Contractors a company owned by Peter Ashcroft who kept the car until his death.

The vendors purchased the car from Mr Ashcroft’s estate and were given a letter stating that ‘the recorded mileage is correct’

DVLA records confirm that the Jaguar was last issued with a tax disc in 1977.

Mr Ashcroft is said to have been a rather eccentric individual.

He paid piecemeal for Alan Collins of Maldon to renovate / recommission the car between 2000 and 2009.

It is not known why Mr Ashcroft went to the expense of having the Jaguar brought up to MOT standard in 2009 to only add add a further five miles to its odometer.
