Inspired by the popularity of Ford's Model Y family Saloon, Morris replaced its long-running Minor with the Morris Eight in 1935. It was available in Saloon, Tourer and Van guises and far better equipped than most of its rivals - especially the now ageing Austin Seven. The standard specification included a full set of instruments, its hydraulically-operated brakes were vastly superior to the Austin's cable-operated system, and its electric windscreen wiper put the vacuum one of the Model Y to shame. The changes that distinguished the Series I Morris Eight from the Series II of 1938 comprised little more than painted rather than plated radiator surrounds and disc rather than wire wheels. The delightful Four-Door Series II offered features Green over Black bodywork and Green interior trim. It appears to be in fine order and comes complete with flashing indicators, an array of badges, V5C and five old MOTs to 2013.
