Lot details Registration No: AUY 342 Chassis No: 155436 Mot Expiry: June 2014
This elegant Eustace Watkins "Daytona" bodied 2/4 seater has been in the current ownership for eleven years and campaigned in various WHSC and VSCC events. The vendor advises the car was the subject of restoration work between 2002 and 2006 and that it is fitted with a reconditioned example of the desirable 14 hp engine which is in "good" condition. The interior has been reupholstered and the seating trimmed in black leather. Retaining its original chassis, running gear and main body tub, other body panels including the wings and bonnet have been renewed in aluminium. The wheels have been respoked and new Dunlop tyres fitted c.250 miles ago. Other works include a recent rewire with a floor mounted independent starter and master switch fitted for security along with a new battery and electric fan. Offered with Swansea V5, buff logbook, handbooks, restoration files, new tonneau and MoT to June 2014.
PLEASE NOTE: This lot is accompanied by a continuation buff logbook which was issued during 1959 and gives its date of original registration as 18th May 1936. However, we have been contacted by several Wolseley Hornet owners who believe the car to have been built for the 1934-model year due to its radiator grille design and the presence of a freewheel lever on its transmission tunnel etc. It is conjectured that the car was perhaps retained by the supplying dealer as a demonstrator before being road registered upon sale in 1936.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
