Lot details Registration No: EBC100L Chassis No: BFATMR10851 Mot Expiry: T.B.A.
According to its chassis plate, this purposeful-looking rally car began life as a left-hand drive RS1600. At some stage it has been converted to right-hand drive 'Mexico' specification. Finished in a striking combination of two-tone Blue and trimmed in Black, it is powered by an over-bored, wet sump Kent 1600cc engine equipped with 244 camshaft and a pair of 40DCOE Weber carburettors. This drives through a straight-cut close ratio Rocket gearbox to a ZF limited slip differential. Braking is by M16 discs front and 3-litre Capri drums rear. Steering is by high ratio rack and pinion, and the suspension upgrades include Bilstein inserts and adjustable platforms for the MacPherson struts, and Bilstein dampers and harder springs at the rear. Among the more obvious external modifications are the Works-type wheelarch extensions, quartet of additional lights and Minilite wheels. 'EBC 100L' comes complete with invoices, old MOTs, competition log book and MSA passport.
PLEASE NOTE: We have been informed that the chassis number which appears on this vehicle's chassis plate and V5C Registration Document - BFATMR10851 - decodes as follows: B = Ford of Britain, F = Aveley (Assembly Plant), A = Escort, T = 2 Door Saloon, M = 1972 (Year of Manufacture), R = February (Month of Manufacture), 10851 (Unit Number). The chassis plate which is labelled in English and German also lists the Drive, Engine and Transmission as 2, L5 and 5 respectively which decode as follows: Right-Hand Drive, 1558cc RS1600 Engine and Manual Transmission. The V5C Registration Document gives the date of first registration as August 1st 1972 and lists the car as a Ford Escort Saloon (rather than as a RS1600 or Mexico). The Escort has been extensively modified for competition purposes and as such the vendor makes no claim regarding the originality of its bodyshell or any other constituent part.
