This 1931-built Riley Monaco with Weymann 4-door coachwork is a late entry and therefore missed our main printed catalogue deadline. The Nine sports saloon was in the previous keeper's hands 1965-2004 and, according to the entrant, the under 90,000 miles recorded is believed to be the genuine total for the Coventry classic from new. Progressively improved, work carried out has included timber and fabric renovation of the bodywork, and renewal of the interior door panels and carpets, whilst the seats, though poor, are the originals.
The chassis is reportedly in very clean order and in excellent condition with brakes and steering said to have been totally overhauled. Bodywork is described as being excellent, too, with black and green paintwork good (the wire spoked wheels are green though were originally mustard coloured), and black leather interior average. The 9hp 4-cylinder motor is claimed to be in very good condition with good oil pressure displayed. Although the Lucas headlamps on the car are not original, period-correct Rotax items are included in an extensive kit of parts supplied with this lot - potential buyers are advised to check out exactly what is included with the H&H office at Buxton.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
