According to the DVLA's online search facility, this Delahaye was first UK registered on 31st December 1922, and the 'EL' prefix suggests it was initially domiciled in Bournemouth. The four-seater's second spell on these shores began in December 1980, when it was reimported by Mr Tamblyn of Liskeard Cornwall. A Mr Halliwell of Bacup, Lancs then owned the car from 1997 to 2009, following which it returned to France in the hands of a Mr Tonge, who reportedly used the Type 87 on shopping sorties to and from his chateau. Running and driving, this delightful LHD, dual-cowl Tourer is powered by a 1.8-litre four-cylinder engine allied to four-speed manual transmission and boasts a host of period equipment including: Ducellier of Paris headlights; Elevateur Garlac systeme L. Garnier fuel feed; P. Grenier of Paris radiator; brass-bodied Solex carburettor; patterned aluminium dashboard complete with Jaegar speedometer, Sifam ammeter and Delahaye oil pressure gauge.
