  • 1 of just 1,583 RHD E-Type S1 4.2 Fixed Head Coupes made
  • Current ownership since c.2000
  • Original engine block, body and chassis
  • All glass is present

This is just 1 of 1,583 right-hand drive E-Type Series 1 4.2 Fixed Head Coupes made before the introduction of the so-called Series 1.5 cars. Much work has been carried out on the project as is evident from the gleaming iconic bodywork and machinery in the photographs. It is now available as a part restored project, a UK car with matching numbers chassis, engine block and gearbox. Described by the vendor as being approximately 85% complete, it is believed that the car, at the minimum, retains the original engine block, body and chassis.

This Series 1 4.2 Coupe started life in Opalescent Golden Sand with Light Tan leather livery. It was built on 5th February 1965, chassis number 1E20258, left the Browns Lane factory with engine number 7E2701-9 and a manual transmission. The car was sold by E.W. Hatfield of Sheffield to Mr Griffin Davis and displayed the registration mark 'FWB 22C'. It now wears the plate 'DXJ 444C'.

In current ownership for the last 21 years, the project began as a complete car and is currently presented in a Mercedes Gunmetal colour (believed to be Mercedes Anthracite Grey Metallic 172G). All chrome trims bumpers etc are in very good order with many other new parts.

With a lot of the hard work carried out by various specialists over a four-year period; work included a full engine overhaul to a ‘fast road’ specification with a 'big valve' head from a Jaguar Series 3 XJ mated to brand new triple Weber carburettors and new inlet manifold. The rear axle cage has been totally restored with an overhauled LSD axle, overhauled brake calipers and drive shafts etc. Amongst the items that are not present are the starter motor, alternator and steering column, however, a new steering rack is present.

The interior still requires refurbishment and repair with the original plan was to have the finished car with a Red interior using the set of Red upholstered seats with the car. Both front seats are in good condition and most other trim is present with the car.

This is an opportunity to own one of the most desirable E-Types models and to enjoy the journey of finishing this project with the help of many specialists suppliers. The car is accompanied by the important Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate, a collection of invoices and the V5C.

Please Note: Image of the complete car (in Red) is from c.2000
