  Lot 82

1933 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Limousine

Sold for £23,625

(including buyers premium)

Lot details
Registration No: FV 4274
Chassis No: GHA40
Mot Expiry: Aug 2014

Chassis GHA 40 passed off test in December 1933, whereupon it was delivered to Windovers and fitted with its Six Light Limousine body, complete with notable chrome waist moulding. The 'trouser creases' on the wings were rarely included on Limousine coachwork and were apparently a particular order of the car's first owner, a Mrs Miller of Singleton Park near Blackpool. 'FV 4274' was removed from the road around 1960 and treated to a restoration between 1988 and 1994. During the last decade, the factory-fitted engine has been replaced by a later 20/25 unit topped by the original cylinder head. More recently the clutch and flywheel ring gear have been renewed. The Rolls has been in continual use since returning to the road in 1994, during which time it has been reserved for a mixture of pleasure motoring and wedding hire and is understood to have covered a total of some 19,000 miles without problem. The vendor informs us that the Ivory over Black paintwork has remained "sound since the bare metal respray of 1994", the woodwork and combination of Black leather (front) and Beige cloth (rear) interior trim that were attended to at the same time remain "in good condition", and the six-cylinder engine and four-speed manual gearbox are in "good working order". 'FV 4274' is being sold complete with the car's original handbook and copy factory chassis cards, plus an MOT certificate valid until August 18 next year. The Rolls is also taxed until the end of February and currently displays an unwarranted 41,609 miles on its odometer. The original crank case can be made available to the next owner. The vehicle will be driven to the auction by the vendor over a distance of approiximately 100 miles.

All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.

You can collect your new pride and joy from our venue until 1pm the day following the sale or our partners are on hand to help arrange safe transportation:
