One of the better-looking cars of its generation, the svelte coupé was introduced to counter Japanese sports coupés. Launched in 1989, it enjoyed a production run that lasted until 1997. The Vauxhall Calibra was very much the descendent of the Manta, as both were the work of stylist Erhard Schnell. He shares credit for the Calibra with another GM design legend, Wayne Cherry. It employed the running gear of the first generation Vectra model. When launched the Calibra was the most aerodynamic production car in the world with a drag coefficient of 0.26. It remained the most aerodynamic mass production car for the next ten years. Vauxhall's own Calibra Special Edition range began with the SE1 in 1993, and ran through to the SE9 in 1997. These limited-run editions often had unique aspects. For example, Solar Yellow paint on the SE2, or Icelandic Blue on the SE6. Neither colours were found on any other Calibra.

A 1998cc (2.0 litre) 8v SE6, 'P992 GNA' was purchased new, by the first owner, in August 1996. The vendor bought the car as a gift for his late wife just 2 years later, becoming the second owner. Presenting as a 'well-maintained' example of the GM coupe, it has been looked after mechanically throughout current ownership. The vendor describes the car as having been loved and cherished during her ownership, seeing to it being maintained and serviced as required. "My wife adored the car. She loved driving the car to school daily and called her 'GNA'. From the documentation and letters to the garage, one can see how much Mrs Owens loved driving the Calibra. Since October 2022, the car has been registered in the vendor's name.

The Calibra is offered with a very large history file that documents a strong relationship with a local garage over the years and servicing and parts from main Vauxhall agent Slaters of Colwyn Bay. Two large files include hand-written documentation in the form of lists of garage jobs to complete and notes complementing mechanics for their work to keep 'GNA' on the road for the late Mrs Owens. Just some of the work and parts documented in recent years includes; a new exhaust system in 2022; replacement offside front coil spring, fuel injection system maintenance and extensive servicing and health check in 2021; a cambelt service and shock absorbers in 2019.
