Lot details
Registration No: LGA697Y
Chassis No: SAXXL2S1N201
Mot Expiry: Sept 2012

Reportedly commissioned by a lottery winner on a `no expense spared' basis, this striking Mini was intended to be both a highly competitive sprint / hillclimb car and potential concours contender. Having stripped and acid etched the bodyshell of a rot-free 1982 1000cc donor, MLS Restorations of Lincoln proceeded to paint it in Monte Carlo Yellow and install a Safety Devices rear roll cage (the latter like the roof being finished in contrasting Light Blue). Uprated brake components and fully adjustable suspension were fitted and set-up for fast-road / light competition work by a `formula car' guru. Opening the car's quick release bonnet reveals a balanced / blueprinted Stage 3 fast-road 1340cc A-series engine. Assembled by Vito Engineering using a host of `Minisport' performance replacement parts, the four-pot breaths through an oversize 1.75in SU carburettor and uprated vacuum inlet manifold with gas escaping via a custom DTM tubular manifold and full stainless steel sports exhaust system. Dyno tested upon completion, the unit was shown to develop in excess of 85bhp at the wheels and is allied to a refurbished four-speed manual gearbox. Clothed by a set of factory `Sportspack' arches, the sport saloon's 7x13in split-rim Superlight alloy wheels are shod with a set of nearly new Yokohama `slash pattern' semi-competition tyres.

Aesthetically, the car has been enhanced via a full Mk1 front-end conversion with `moustache' grille and seamless bonnet not to mention the addition of a locking Monza fuel cap and tinted wind deflectors. The interior features a JVC audio system, leather trimmed dashboard (complete with starter button and aeronautical-style switchgear), amusing yellow `No.1' pool ball gear knob and two blue Corbeau Forza Sport 2000 bucket seats. Described by the vendor as being in "excellent overall" condition, the Austin is further understood to have (a) been inspected by his personal mechanic with any adjustments being made as necessary and (b) just emerged from a £3,000-plus respray. Capable of being driven to track days, open class hillclimb / sprint events or through a city centre, the Mini will be arriving at Buxton under its own power. Offered for sale at a fraction its build cost, this exciting car is accompanied by a MOT certificate valid until September 2012 and current road fund licence.

PLEASE NOTE: This vehicle is not taxed.
