Lot details Registration No: LOJ 44F Chassis No: 115/2652 Mot Expiry: July 2006
Styled by the Italian carrozeria Vignale, the Jensen Interceptor was introduced in 1966. A handsome steel-bodied 2+2 coupe with distinctive wraparound rear windscreen, it was equipped with independent coil and wishbone front suspension, a 'live' rear axle and four-wheel disc brakes. Among the fastest four-seater coupes of its generation, the Interceptor was powered by a Chrysler sourced 6276cc V8 engine and three-speed automatic gearbox. Reputedly capable of 139mph and 0-60mph in 6.5 seconds, it was praised by the contemporary motoring press for its comfort and refinement.
Finished in silver with black leather upholstery, this particular example is described by the vendor as being in good overall condition. Said to have had just "one private owner from new", its current (replacement) speedometer shows a mere 14,652 miles (though, the total mileage is put at circa 46,000). Reportedly treated to a new floor, sills and stainless steel exhaust system at a cost of some £14,000, it has apparently not been used on the road since 1995. Always garaged, this early Series I is thought to have been maintained by the Jensen factory until its closure. Retaining its original sales brochure, manual and first aid kit, it is offered for sale with MOT current until July 2006.
All successful bids must be paid in full by midday the day after the auction at the latest.
