Lot details
Registration No: HYH 281K
Chassis No: BFATLY23945
Mot Expiry: July 2004
According to the Lake District owner of this Mexico, which left the Ford AVO factory in 1971, the righthand drive car is still to original specification and, most unusually for this London to Mexico victory celebratory model, HYH 281K has never been exposed to competition. When entered, 85,835 miles were displayed on the odometer and this is believed to be the total mileage from new.
Currently, the 2-door bodywork is said to be good above and below, the Sunset Red paintwork and the black interior very good, while both the 1.6-litre 4-cylinder 'Kent' motor and the 4-speed manual all-synchromesh gearbox are described as being in very good order. A large history file even contains the original bill of sale as well as the latest MOT pass certificate from last July and photographs of the sports saloon used for an article in the September 1998 issue of Classic Ford magazine. Unmolested Escorts are becoming extremely rare - and, thanks to Historic Rally consumption, AVO-built Escorts like this even more so.
