The launch of the third-generation Range Rover (L322) coincided with an asset scramble for the leftovers of the Rover Group. Development of the L322 however, had already been largely shipped out to Munich but the L322’s slick and clean modern design came from Solihull. Geoff Upex had become Rover’s design chief and concept director in 1995 and it was his vision for the L322 that beat a proposition from BMW’s chief designer, Chris Bangle. Monocoque construction transformed the L322’s on-road manners. The TD6 diesel engine was more efficient and cleaner than the larger petrol engines that dominated earlier models and offered much lower running costs, a greater range between refuels, and unparalleled reliability. The Vogue trim was the flagship specification for the TD6, elevating the vehicle’s luxury quotient with a plethora of premium features, and introduced several exclusive enhancements over base and HSE trims.
Land Rover agents Ruettes Braye of the Channel Islands supplied ‘SV53 HHE’ as new to the vendor (a resident of Jersey) on 30th October 2003. Finished in the rare Giverny Green with matching leather interior upholstery with Cream piping, this is a well-specified Vogue example. A pleasingly original example, the Range Rover is understood to boast all of its factory paintwork and displays the supplying dealer’s window sticker. Accompanying the vendor upon his return to reside in Scotland in 2006, the L322 Range Rover is now offered as a warranted and remarkably low 38,000 mile example. Retained by the vendor from new, the Range Rover has always been garaged during his ownership. Notably less worked than many a Range Rover, the ‘SV53 HHE’ has also been well serviced, as illustrated in the accompanying stamped service book and collection of invoices that show a total of ten services, the most recent being completed in November 2024 at 38,658 miles. The service book is presented in the full book pack with the Land Rover wallet, alongside MOT history and a current V5C showing zero former keepers. Benefitting from a new battery in January 2025, the Range Rover started readily and ran well on our visit. With one owner, very low mileage, and a rare colour scheme, this L322 Range Rover has much to recommend it.
